MATS JONASSON, SWEDEN, PAPERWEIGHT, SIGNED EUC CRYSTAL EAGLE.
This is an absolutely stunning paperweight in beautiful used condition. There is an issue on the bottom, please refer to photos. It looks as though it was dropped on the corner and inside the paperweight has some cracking, not visible from the front. I can’t feel them either. I do feel a few flea bites along the back edge. Regardless, this is a beautiful piece. It would look gorgeous in your office, den or living room. This signed and numbered paperweight would make a perfect addition to any collection! A miniature full lead crystal sculpture depicting a wolf. It’s designed by Mats Jonasson for Målerås glassworks.
Målerås was founded in 1890 after the railroad had made its way through the wilderness in Kronoberg, Småland. Back then window glass was their main income source, what a great skill making mouth blown window glasses.
Today it’s different, since 1981 they produce high quality crystal glass. 15 glass workers, including Mats Jonasson, bought Målerås from Kosta glassworks, and could realize a dream thanks to a lot of help from people living in the small village Målerås.
Today it’s Sweden’s largest private owned glassworks.
MATS JONASSON’s talent as a designer attracted attention early on,when he started work as an apprentice engraver at the glassworks in 1959.
Inspired by the natural world around him, he creates his masterpieces in the finest Swedish crystal.
Condition: excellent vintage with no flaws, signed and with the original sticker.
