Mats Jonasson Baby Seal Paperweight 0150 Signature Collection
This cast crystal paperweight with engraved motif of a baby seal is created by
Mats Jonasson
at
Målerås Glasbruk
in Sweden.
With the help of other skilled engravers he transformed his design into a living crystal masterpiece. Every detail lovingly captured by the artist is remarkably characteristic of a baby seal in its natural habitat.

paperweight was introduced in 1984 as part of the Wildlife range and included in the
Signature Collection
. The base bears the engraved signature "

paperweight was retired from the Collection more than 10 years ago and has now become a rare and highly sought-after piece of
Mats Jonasson
's glass art.
Mats Jonasson
was born in 1945 and is the third generation of
Master Glass Craftsmen
. At the age of 14 he joined the
Målerås Glasbruk
as an apprentice engraver and over the next few decades worked with many of the most respected glass artists in Sweden.
During this time
Mats Jonasson
developed and perfected a natural inimitable style with new techniques. His distinctive artwork, inspired by nature and made from the finest full lead crystal, has received international recognition and thus become highly collectable glass art all over the world.
