The PCIe-424 card allows you to run your MOTU PCI core system on any Mac or PC equipped with a
PCIe ("PCI Express") slot
, as found in most current-generation tower PCs and Apple's latest Dual-Core Power Mac G5 and Intel Mac Pro towers.
If you are upgrading from a PCI-324 card, the PCIe-424 card adds many additional new features over the original PCI-324 card, including:
A fourth Audio Wire port - lets you connect a fourth MOTU PCI audio interface to your system. Depending on your I/O configuration, this allows you to have up to 96 inputs and outputs at 96 kHz on a single card system!
CueMixDSP™ - a powerful processor dedicated to creating a custom tailored monitor mix of up to 96 channels of 96kHz audio. Because the mixing takes place on the card itself, instead of making the round trip from the PCI bus to the host processor, the PCIe-424 system provides the same near-zero latency performance as today's latest digital mixers. CueMix DSP completely eliminates the buffer latency associated with monitoring on host-based systems. Because the DSP is mixing for you, your computer's CPU is free for other tasks.
NOTE: If your computer is equipped with PCI Standard (5 volt) or PCI-X (3.3 volt) slots, DO NOT purchase this PCIe-424 card and instead purchase the PCIX-424 card.
8-IN, 8-OUT. OVER ADAT
Clarett OctoPre gives you eight Clarett mic pres renowned for their transparency, and eight outputs too. You can use these to extend the capabilities of your Clarett audio interface or any other interface fitted with ADAT optical inputs and outputs.
EIGHT CLARETT MIC PRES WITH EXTRA AIR
The eight mic pres have been designed specifically for the Clarett range, with plenty of gain, yet low noise and distortion – and great sound quality. They are Air-enabled, so can reproduce the input impedance, clarity and frequency response curve of our original ISA mic preamp.
MIC, LINE AND INSTRUMENT INPUTS
The front panel includes dual instrument inputs featuring extra headroom to handle the loudest pickup, while the rear panel includes universal XLR/jack connectors for the remaining auto-switching mic/line inputs.
INSERT POINTS
Each input has its own switched insert point for single-cable connection of compression, equalisation and other outboard analogue processing – with hardwired relay bypass so you can leave outboard gear or a patchbay connected ready to access at the press of a button.
EIGHT OUTPUTS
The Clarett OctoPre offers up to eight ADAT digital channels feeding 25-pin DSUB rear-panel analogue outputs, making it useful for mixing as well as tracking. The line outputs can optionally provide feeds from the mic pres – useful for feeding a live console while recording the digital outputs.
PRECISION DIGITAL CONVERSION
The Clarett OctoPre's precision 24-bit converters operate at standard sample rates all the way up to 192kHz – ideal for hi-res audio – with up to 118dB (A-D)/119dB (D-A) dynamic range. Hear your recordings sound better than you've ever heard them sound before.
